Establishment of Industrial Court.
  • For the purposes of this Act, there is hereby established an Industrial Court which shall be a superior Court of record and shall have in addition to the jurisdiction and powers conferred on it by this Act all the powers inherent in such a Court.
  • The Court shall have an official seal which shall be judicially noticed in all Courts.
  • The Court shall consist of two divisions, each consisting of a Chairman and such number of other members being not less than two, as may be appointed by the President of Trinidad and Tobago who shall in every instrument of appointment indicate to which division appointment is being made.

The two divisions are—
  1. the General Services Division which shall have and exercise the jurisdiction of the Court as set out in section 7 with respect to services other than essential services; and
  2. the Essential Services Division which shall have and exercise the jurisdiction of the Court as set out in section 7 with respect to essential services.
